UCHS Foundation Holds Festival of Tables

October 24, 2016

The 2nd Annual Fesitval of Tables, hosted by United Church Homes and Services (UCHS) Foundation, brought together area businesses and associates, featured a silent auction, and concluded with a fashion show highlighting some of the latest clothing trends from area retail stores.

The event was held to raise funds for the organization’s Grant a Dream™ Fund. “The purpose of the Grant a Dream™ program is to renew and celebrate a passion within the hearts of seniors served within our organization,” stated Nancy Beard, president of the UCHS Foundation. “One of my favorite dreams that have been granted is when we invited a high school cheerleading squad, where a resident was once a cheerleader, to our campus to cheer with an 89-year-old resident. We also granted a dream that involved a resident skydiving with her five best friends, and the most recent dream granted involved giving a resident a ride on the back of a motorcycle.”
Each round table in the room was decorated with a different theme. Guests voted on their favorite and a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, place prize was given. The winning table was decorated with a tool/handy man theme and belonged to Peter and Marjo Erikson, both residents at Abernethy Laurels.

“All of the money raised from the event tonight will go into a fund to help cover any associated costs with granting dreams through our Grant a Dream™ program. Although we consider these dreams priceless in the eyes of those touched by the program, there can be expenses,” shared Beard. The event, which had sell-out tickets, raised nearly $6,000.
