Searcy Selected for LeadingAge Academy

July 31, 2017

Kim Searcy, Associate Executive Director at Lake Prince Woods, a senior living community in Suffolk, VA, has been selected to attend LeadingAge 2018 Leadership Academy.  The Leadership Academy is a year-long leadership development program designed to enhance the leadership skills and core competencies of not-for-profit leaders within the LeadingAge membership. In addition to a competitive screening process, each participant must dedicate a meaningful amount of time to the program.

The Academy’s graduate-level curriculum provides a rich learning experience through multiple program components, including exposure to:

-A foundation of leadership knowledge that Fellows can draw from to enhance their own leadership skills and core competencies.
-Innovative organizations and the people responsible for transforming care and service delivery in our field.
-Diverse perspectives from seasoned leaders and colleagues in the field to foster a deeper understanding of issues facing aging services providers.

“UCHS is delighted that Kim was selected to participate in this high-level advanced program,” shared Lee Syria, President/CEO of United Church Homes and Services.  "The experience will allow Kim to champion change and innovations and bring them back to Lake Prince Woods and UCHS.”

An important aspect of the curriculum is to influence change and help advance innovative programs and practices through Action Learning Projects, where Fellows learn through hands-on, practical experiences by implementing a program or practice within their organization. In addition, the program helps to build a lifelong network of peers, dedicated to continuing the Academy experience through shared learning, fellowship and service opportunities.
