Carolina Senior Living Receives Certification
December 1, 2015
Carolina Senior Living Apartments, owned and operated by United Church Homes and Services (UCHS), recently received an EarthCraft Certification of Sustainable Construction.
Carolina Senior Living consists of 30 spacious one-bedroom residential units in Lexington, NC, offering affordable housing and supportive services for seniors through the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The EarthCraft Certification addresses a wide range of sustainability considerations for Carolina Senior Living, including environmental performance, indoor air quality, building durability, comfort and affordability.
"We made a conscious effort to participate in the EarthCraft green building program prior to beginning construction," shared Lee Syria, President and CEO of UCHS. "EarthCraft projects are built with durability in mind, reducing time and money spent on maintenance."
Carolina Senior Living apartments are located adjacent to and closely associated with a UCHS sister program, Carolina SeniorCare, a Program of All-inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE). The two programs work hand and glove to fill a void within the community for those economically challenged and often frail and at risk. Carolina Senior Living provides a safe, secure and comfortable environment for those 62 years and older while Carolina SeniorCare provides socialization, hot meals, medical care and transportation.
