How much is the rent?
Your rent will be based on 30% of your adjusted annual income. Verified medical expenses are deducted from the total of your annual income. All income and assets are also verified. Are all medical bills taken into account when calculating adjusted income? Only out of pocket medical expenses can be considered. Anything covered by insurance will not be included. What is included in the rent? Electricity and water costs are included in the rent. If you wish to have cable TV or a private telephone, that cost is not included. Is there an age limit to live in the community? Yes, the head of the household must be 62 years of age or older. Is this considered "Section 8" housing? No, the rental subsidy is through PRAC (Project Rental Assistance Contract). Can I have overnight guests? Yes! Your apartment is your home and visitors are encouraged. There is no fee for overnight guests. Is there a security deposit? Yes. A security deposit equal to one month's rent is due at the time of lease signing. It is refundable if all conditions are met when you move out. Can I have a pet? Yes, small pets (under 25 pounds) are permitted with a $300 security deposit. "Working" pets are not subject to a deposit. Is transportation available? Public transportation is available by appointment (van service) or public bus lines. Some fees may be charged for this service. Are grocery stores and drug stores located nearby? Yes. All communities are within a 3-5 mile radius of local stores. In some areas local merchants offer delivery services for prescriptions and small grocery orders. |
