Is there a Residents' Association?
Yes. The Residents' Council provides opportunities for all residents to participate in the community's services and programs. Optional dues are collected yearly. May I bring my pet? Small house pets (cats and dogs under 25 pounds) are allowed in certain units at Lake Prince Woods. A pet deposit may be required. Who decides when a resident will move to a different level of care? It is the goal of Lake Prince Woods' staff to help residents live in their homes as independently as possible for as long as possible. A committee of various professional disciplines meets regularly to review anticipated new level of care needs. The determination to recommend a level of care change is always made in the best interest of the resident and with the participation of the resident and/or the family and physician. Do residents moving to a new level of care have to give up their residence? In many instances, health care is used for short-term recovery. However, if a need for long-term care arises, the resident will be asked to relocate from their apartment or cottage. In the case of a couple, should one spouse need health care, the other may choose to remain in the current home or transfer to a smaller, more convenient apartment. However, the couple will remain close to each other for their continued support. Does Lake Prince Woods offer a refund of the Residency Fee? Yes, a portion of the Residency Fee may be refunded to the resident or his/her estate upon separation from Lake Prince Woods. An amortization schedule is available upon request. Are fees fixed or can they change? The Board of Directors of United Church Homes and Services reviews all fees annually and adjustments are generally made effective at the beginning of each fiscal year, October 1, with 30 days notice given to all residents. |
